We’re super excited to have been nominated for Craft Beer Bar of the Year Award at the Scottish Bar & Pub Awards 2024 held in collaboration with DRAM Magazine. Recognition as the best in the Scottish bar scene, and being nominated is an honour in itself. But it got us thinking: What makes a craft beer bar truly great, and why do we believe we could win?

Well it has to have more than just beer! A great craft beer bart delivers an immersive experience for beer lovers, whether you’re a seasoned connoisseur or someone curious about dipping your toes into the craft beer world. At The Craftsman Company, we believe in “Exciting the Enthusiast” with every pour. But what really sets us apart?
A Carefully Curated Selection
We’re an independent craft coffee and ale house nestled in the heart of Aberdeen, and our goal has always been to offer a diverse range of craft beers that not only excite seasoned beer drinkers but also introduce newcomers to the world of independent brewing. We’ve carefully curated a rotating selection of 17 draught beers, sourced from local breweries as well as global icons. Whether you’re after a fruity IPA or something a bit more adventurous like an Iron Brew Sour, we have something to suit everyone’s tastes.
One of the perks of being an independent business is the flexibility to stock beers we genuinely love. We’re not tied to any one brand, so our customers get the best beer available from Aberdeen, Scotland, and beyond. Right now, you’ll find offerings from local stars like Fierce Beer, Black Isle, and Vault City – each representing the thriving craft beer culture that’s taking hold in Scotland.
Beer Quality & Presentation
Serving top-quality beer is not just about what’s on tap – it’s about how it’s presented. We work with a dedicated team to ensure that every serve is perfect, from glass cleanliness to optimal beer line maintenance. We’ve installed new beer lines and upkeep strict cellar management systems to maintain the perfect pour, every time. Beer enthusiasts can enjoy their brews in thirds, halves, schooners, or pints, allowing them to explore various styles and flavours with ease.
Community & Customer Engagement
Craft beer is about community – whether that’s through our beer events, meet-the-brewer nights, or social media engagement. We regularly host tap takeovers, where local and international brewers share their latest and greatest. We’re also proud to be the only non-brewery venue in Aberdeen listed on Untappd, a global beer rating app where customers can check out our latest stock in real time. Also, our social media presence has allowed us to reach a broader audience, with TikTok and Instagram helping us engage with beer lovers near and far.
So, What Sets Us Apart?
In addition to our craft beer offerings, we’re known for our speciality coffee, making us a unique space in Aberdeen where you can enjoy the best of both worlds – craft beers and exceptional coffee. And as if that weren’t enough, we’re constantly evolving. This year alone, we’ve invested significantly in our bar, expanding our beer fonts, installing a bespoke gantry, improving the lighting for a better atmosphere, and increasing our event offerings, including live music nights and a weekly quiz.
