A spectacular effervescent acidity leads the way, followed by flavours of cranberry, orange and caramel.   A special reserve AR selection showcasing the very best of Kenya.

Kiamubui factory is one of a couple of secondary processing units that form the larger Kanjuu FCS Society based out of Embu town, right in the heart of the quality Kirinyaga coffee growing area, and directly south of Mount Kenya.  The farmer small holdings that supply this factory are a handful of kilometers to the north west of Embu, and while the ripe coffee cherry is processed at a relatively low altitude of 1380m, the small holdings themselves run up to around 1700m .  As is common throughout Kenya, most producers in the co-operative own a few hundred coffee trees and they deliver ripe red cherry from these trees into a central co-operative washing station, like Kiamubui, for further processing.

This special reserve selection from Kiamubui is of a quality rarely seen in a harvest season. It has an intensity and complexity of citrus, malic and phosphoric acidity, that only Kenyan coffee can produce. This is balanced supremely by a dense, heady sweet, viscous and honey like mouthfeel. We have roasted this coffee light to preserve these characteristics along with a long list of flavours. The stand out characteristics for us are fresh cranberry, mandarin oranges, and caramel. Underlying notes of pink grapefruit and blackcurrant adds interest and harmony.

We are recommending this special reserve coffee as a filter, to bring our it’s refinement and expressive nature. It will work in other brew methods …. if you can control temperature parameters on your espresso machine to reign in the acidity it will make a truly delicious single origin shot.
